LIFE AFTER NEW YORK COMIC CON
We're ready, set and GO to host another rip-roaring, 12-Hour NEW COMIC DAY here at FUNNYBOOKS (10am-10pm EVERY Wednesday). And the first NEW COMIC DAY after NEW YORK COMIC CON is always a good one, as we get to hear all about everyone's comic con experiences! Plus, we get to discuss all the comic book-related news that always comes out of the con (mostly in the form of new trailers this time). And, we can also talk about the return of WALKING DEAD, and how about the VENOM Movie — which somehow broke October opening weekend records despite some pretty bad reviews. Plus, if you happen to read the new ACTION PICKLE KINGDOM #1, we'd love to hear what you think, And - oh yeah - We also have this week's Great NEW COMICS & STUFF!
DC VS. MARVEL!
DC Comics and Marvel Comics go toe-to-toe this week, with both of the big publishers claiming FIVE of FUNNYBOOKS' TOP TEN TITLES. DC claims our TOP SPOT this week with the new SUPERMAN #4 - which has a foil-enhanced main cover. Foil Treatments also adorn the main covers many other DC titles this week, including the new FLASH #56. And - speaking of FOIL covers - good luck deciding between a Foil CATWOMAN cover vs. a "no-logo" CATWOMAN cover by Artgerm, or a foil SUPERGIRL cover vs. a "No-Logo" SUPERGIRL cover by Amanda Conner (who Ziggy and I ran into at NYCC). DC also kicks-off Halloween Comic season with the new CURSED COMICS CAVALCADE — a giant-sized special featuring TEN terrifying DC tales. Meanwhile, Marvel's TOP TITLES include the new, AMAZING SPIDER-MAN #7, AVENGERS #9, INFINITY WARS #4, CAPTAIN AMERICA #4, and SPIDER-GEDDON #1 - and look for more of those cool "Battle Lines" No-Logo variant cover options on many Marvel issues this week.
BRUBAKER & PHILLIPS ARE BACK!
Besides all the Great New COMICS hitting the shelves at FUNNYBOOKS this week, we're also getting the highly-anticipated, all-new, \ORIGINAL HARD COVER GRAPHIC NOVEL "MY HEROES HAVE ALWAYS BEEN JUNKIES" from Image Comics and the Fan (and FUNNYBOOKS) Favorite Creative team of Writer Ed Brubaker and artist Sean Phillips (the creators of KILL OR BE KILLED, CRIMINAL, and more). Can't wait to read that one!
Last week's newsletter was pretty lengthy so we're keeping it short this week. -- See you at FUNNYBOOKS! - Funny Steve
